My Plans
Ward 1 Services
Lack of transit, commercial spaces, groceries, snowplowing, kids programs and postal outlets are services that need to be improved in Ward 1. I will champion those improvements.
UN Sustainable Development Goals
10C held an in-person candidate discussion for wards 1-3 on the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Transit
Transit planning is fundamental to growth. I have a plan to ensure all people in Guelph can easily and safety use our bus system.
The Environment
I have many well thought-out, researched plans to help keep our community's environment clean while we grow and thrive as a city.
Street Safety
Speeding, crosswalks, sidewalks, stop signs, traffic lights, bus stops, school drop off parking, bike lanes, road quality, large trucks in the city, and accessibility are all safety issues I plan to address in Guelph.
Strategy for Growth
Guelph can grow sustainably if we follow my plan to create standards that consider our economic, community and environmental needs.
Service Affordability
Affordability for residents from partnerships with local nonprofits and creating sliding scale options for services is one of my priority plans.
Property Taxes
Property taxes in Guelph are very high. It's a complicated issue that requires nuance and balance. My skills and experience qualify me to weigh in.
Parking
Overnight winter parking, school drop off/pick up parking, driveway sizes and accessible parking all impact people in Guelph. I have solutions.
Park Farmer's Markets
I plan to facilitate pop up farmer's markets and mobile groceries in parks and motion to provide spaces for these to be feasible year round.
Mental Health
I plan to work together with all levels of government and nonprofits to make life easier for the people of Guelph to improve community mental health.
Kids' Community Programs
I have begun conversations with nonprofits and private businesses about how we can work together to create more options for kids and youth in Ward 1.
Innovation District & Yorklands
My plan to work with developers and nonprofits will create a future forward design everyone can be happy with and benefit from.
Inclusion & Equity
As a city councillor I will listen to and incorporate feedback from people affected by intersections of race, gender, sex, sexuality, age, ability, religion and economic factors.
Housing
Everyone needs a place to live. Currently we do not build green affordable homes suitable for all people. I have a plan to fix that.
Homelessness
The best way to end homelessness is to give people a place to live. I have plans to work on multiple approaches to address the different causes of homelessness.
Downtown Library
There's been a lot of misinformation about the downtown library cost, why we need to replace it and the benefits we will receive. So I made a fact sheet!
Dog Parks
Dog parks and on-leash natural spaces are both a part of recreation for many people in Guelph. I will urge for robust public consultation on planning for dog parks.
County, Provincial & Federal Partners
I plan to initiate a process flow between all levels of government, to lower the chances residents issues will slip through the cracks. I have already begun this work.
Accessible Playgrounds
Playgrounds are for everyone. Easy access for all people is the law. It makes financial and community sense to build them right the first time.
